When re-imagining an existing restaurant, building a story as the basis of the concept is essential if we want it to have personality and identity. Tavola is a great example of this - previously a ‘generic’ bar and restaurant without a distinct point of view, transformed into a relaxed Italian eatery that celebrates creativity and the culture of Italian home cooking.
Alongside the rich narrative embodied in the brand, the interior builds on this with a relaxed and eclectic vibe. Inspired by a typical Italian family home, the design explores how, in ‘real life’, our spaces tend to evolve organically and become a visual record of our experiences. Assorted and uncoordinated artwork adorns the walls and a colour palette that is on the edge of mismatch helps to convey this feeling of homeliness.
