Welcome to Sketchbook, where we explore the latest restaurant design and culinary experiences designed by the Faber studio. Today, we're diving into the vibrant world of Seafood City, a new dining destination created by the team behind Vietnamese Street Kitchen.
Inspired by the contemporary street culture of Asia, Seafood City is a feast for both the palate and the eyes, seamlessly blending the past and the future in a way that’s both nostalgic and cutting-edge.
As you step inside, you’re immediately transported to a world where retro-futurism reigns supreme. The striking use of primary colour blocking creates an energetic and dynamic ambience. Visual ‘glitches’ reminiscent of 1980s computer graphics add an unexpected twist, making each corner of the restaurant a unique discovery. The branding uses a custom typeface, inspired by vintage street signage, tying everything together and paying homage to the bustling markets and neon-lit streets of Asia.
With a menu that’s a Vietnamese take on the traditional Louisiana seafood boil, our work designing the brand and interior is intentionally simple yet impactful. If you look closely, you’ll see the Seafood City mascot, Larry the Lobster - the shape of which originates from the negative space within the ‘E’ of the custom typeface.
Seafood City is not just a place to eat; it’s a sensory experience that immerses you in the energetic spirit of Asian street culture.
