With a design inspired by the traditional courtyard houses of Syria, Damascena celebrates the culture and cuisine of the Middle East; where food is so much more than just fuel—it’s a cornerstone of society. Sharing food is a sign of love and friendship, as well as a popular way to do business.
The interior is built around a focal point; in a Syrian courtyard, this would typically be a fountain, whereas here we have created a central cluster of upholstered bench seating sat on a bespoke pattern floor. Handmade brass pendant lights are interspersed with hanging planting to create a real sense of inside-out space.
All of the furniture and joinery is handmade and bespoke to this project, adding further to the sense of story and atmosphere.
