Take a moment to step outside with a warm drink in hand and embrace the quiet beauty of the season. Notice the small, wintry details: the crisp air, frosty leaves, or the way sunlight glimmers through the bare branches. A mindful pause - a chance to breathe deeply and connect with the stillness around you. The solstice on the 21st December reminds us that, though darkness lingers, daylight will soon begin to stretch a little longer each day, gently guiding us toward spring’s renewal and brighter days ahead. Until then embrace the season, stay cozy and enjoy the Christmas lights.

Lunch at The Savoy

For me there’s no better place at Christmas than the Savoy. The Christmas decorations are spectacular and the newly opened Gallery restaurant is beautiful - with a menu inspired by the culinary legacy of August Escoffier. You could go for the afternoon tea but I would not be able to pass up on The Savoy Mac n Cheese (with half lobster) and the fantastic Rhug Estate Rib Eye. And why not finish the day with an Espresso Martini in the American Bar!

Indian takeaway feast for Christmas dinner

Rather than slave away over a hot stove all day, for me there’s no better Christmas dinner than a huge Southern Indian feast from our favorite Gujurati restaurant Bobby’s. We have about ten dishes, with highlights including creamy Methi Matar Malai and the sticky sweet Chilli Paneer. To top it all off, there’s no washing up! Controversial, I know!

You’ve got to try making these origami Christmas trees this year—they’re such a fun little project! Whether you’re looking for a quiet moment to challenge yourself or want to turn it into a family activity (who can make the best one?), it’s a great way to get into the festive spirit. Plus, they make adorable decorations you can bring out year after year, and they’ll always remind you of the time spent making them. Trust me, grab some pretty paper, put on some music or a Christmas movie, and give it a go—you’ll love it!

If you're looking for the ultimate winter treat to enjoy during a cozy evening, Baileys Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate is an absolute must-try. This rich, velvety recipe combines the indulgent creaminess of hot chocolate with the smooth, warming touch of Baileys Irish Cream. Set it in the slow cooker and let it simmer to perfection, filling your home with an irresistible aroma. Whether you're sharing it with friends by a crackling fire or savouring it solo, this decadent drink is a delightful way to celebrate the season.

For me it's a pub meal in front of a log fire with pint of ale. I’d go for rib eye steak and chips, washed down with a pint of Mad Goose. Then home for a movie, maybe the Grinch, and a much-deserved nap.

Honestly, you have to try making a trifle for Christmas—it’s one of my favorite parts of the holidays! There’s just something so festive about layering all those delicious flavours. I usually make a classic one, but this year I’m excited to try this Black Forest Trifle I found on BBC Good Food. It looks divine—layers of rich chocolate sponge, boozy cherries, creamy custard, and whipped cream. Doesn’t that just scream Christmas indulgence?

If you’re looking for some Christmas inspiration, I’d definitely recommend indulging in plenty of cheese and Baileys hot chocolate—it’s a must for me every year! We usually go to my parents’ for Christmas dinner, and a while back, my aunt started making this amazing recipe that quickly became a staple on our table, it’s such a great addition to the meal. Oh, and if you’re putting together a Christmas cheese board, I’ve got the perfect cheese recommendation for you—it’s an absolute winner.

I love going back home and baking sweet treats: cookies, cinnamon rolls, cakes, the whole lot. This year I've got my eye on a simple sugar cookie recipe because decorating those can be a fun thing to do with family!
