Branding, graphics and interior design for a historic F&B venue
"Celebrating the culture of tea, Tales of Tea is built on the idea that where there is tea, there are stories."
A project that celebrates the culture of tea; from connecting over a cuppa with close friends, to partaking in the tradition of afternoon tea, Tales of Tea is built on the idea that where there is tea, there are stories. Set in the undercroft of a medieval Guild Hall, in the historic quarter of Coventry, the atmosphere of this beautiful building is the perfect setting for our own storytelling. Inspired by Lady Godiva (who famously rode through the city naked on horseback), and her husband Leofric, Earl of Mercia; the interior uses fabrics and colours inspired by the historic textiles manufactured in this area.
Our client, No Ordinary Hospitality, was tasked with taking on the historic medieval Guildhall as part of a wider £5m refurbishment programme.
The restoration of this space required a sensitive and considered approach; as a building of historical significance, original floors and stonework have been gently brought back to life whilst retaining much of the patina of hundreds of years of use. Lighting was a key part of the design; using wall and ceiling uplighters to emphasise the vaulted structure.
