We went along to London Design Festival last month, an annual celebration of London as the design capital of the world. Venues across the city took part in exhibitions, art installations and events, from Kensington to Shoreditch. Here’s a few snaps of our highlights from the festival.
100% Design
This monster of a design exhibition at Olympia is always the focal point of the festival. With a number of interesting talks (including a panel debate on the relationship between interior design and trends - see our blog write up for more info) and new exhibitors, it provided plenty of food for thought.
Darc Rooms
It was another great year for darc magazine’s inspirational darc Room event in Shoreditch which showcased some amazing lighting and hosted a number of talks from industry experts.
Design Junction
Taking place on London’s vibrant South Bank this year, Design Junction didn’t fail to deliver on its promise of cutting edge design, with a mix of furniture, lighting, accessory, material and technology brands alongside pop-up shops, installations and interactive features.
mycoocoon "Colour Energy" Hub
By identifying your colour profile, mycoocoon uses chromotherapy (which involves the use of colour to improve health and wellbeing) to create the perfect work/sleep/relaxation space. We popped in to find out what our colour profiles were and to soak up the ambience.
Kellenberger-White: Alphabet
This fun, interactive installation in Broadgate got passers by involved with the festival fun - and we couldn’t resist getting involved too!
Shoreditch Grind
We couldn’t go to Shoreditch without giving this place a visit for an obligatory pitstop. Full of hipsters enjoying their avo on toast (including us, of course) this place is so cool, it even has a recording studio upstairs.
Shoreditch
London’s arty capital, Shoreditch, was a real focal point of the festival, with the Design Fair, darc Room and many other events based here. Artist Camille Walala's “Dream Come True” building epitomises the laidback creative feel of the district.
