Bespoke Pastry Counter, The Londoner, Macau

The Challenge

Arguably the most complex bespoke build our team has undertaken, the Maypole Counter is a spectacular rotating dessert display at The Londoner’s Hampton Court restaurant in Macau.

Our client—the Hong Kong-based F&B product team—had struggled to find a local manufacturer with the engineering finesse required for such an intricate and high-profile piece. That’s when they turned to Faber and our team of expert engineers and craftsmen.

The Solution

Inspired by a traditional carousel, the centrepiece features a central pole supporting a series of ‘fabric streamers’—actually precision-formed shells wrapped in alternating red and white velvet. From these streamers hang sixteen rotating arms, each carrying a small dessert plate and a pinpoint LED light for perfect illumination.

Overcoming the technical challenges was key: the arms are designed to halt and auto-restart if obstructed, continuous power flows seamlessly through the rotating core, and every decorative detail—right up to the whimsical jester crowning the top—was meticulously crafted.

The result? A striking, theatrical centrepiece that’s as technically ingenious as it is visually extravagant.
