At Faber, we’re pretty good at sharing the amazing work we do through our Portfolio and Before and After pages. But, we thought it was high time we allowed you a peek at our inner workings; a closer look at the team responsible for making the magic happen; who they are, what they do – plus 10 quickfire questions to see what really makes them tick.

Our Senior Design Manager, Dave, studied 3D Product and Interior Design at Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) almost a decade ago, after which he joined the in-house design team at Carphone Warehouse HQ in London. He was lucky enough to manage a huge variety of projects all over the UK, EU and USA – from space planning all 800+ stores across their UK estate every year, to designing new flagship and concept interiors and FF&E for global joint ventures with Samsung, Apple and Selfridges, to name just a few.

After deciding to escape the London rat-race, Dave was introduced to Faber. “I really enjoy the vibrancy, variety and energy from working here – everyone is passionate about their work and it shows.” He says. “The creative, laidback-yet-professional atmosphere and exciting projects we have the privilege of working on, are what get me out of bed in the morning.”

In his spare time, you’ll find Dave taking part in pretty much any board sport you can think of, including surfing, longboarding and snowboarding. When he was 15, he even built his own skate ramp in his parents’ garage, much to their delight.

How would you describe yourself in three words?

Inventive. Tenacious. Practical.

What is your greatest achievement?

Setting up a new Design and Space Planning Department from scratch, for a new joint venture in the USA, to design and successfully roll-out 200 retail units over two years.

What made you want to become a Senior Design Manager?

I’ve always had a passion for design in many forms, but mainly the impact of spatial and interior design on the end user. What better place to feed that enthusiasm than at Faber?

What is your favourite Faber project?

Buffalo & Rye – I love the grungy American feel and the food is pretty epic too!

What is your feel-good song?

Take Five by Dave Brubeck.

If you could travel to anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

Whistler, BC. Canada. Sun, sea, snow and city all in one day with adrenaline-fuelled sports all year round.

How would you describe your perfect weekend?

Some street food and a few drinks after work with the Faber team on a Friday, followed by a sunny weekend on a sandy beach with friends, family, surfboards and a BBQ.

What are you most afraid of?

The idiots who run our country.

Pet hates?

People who walk really slowly in front of me, laziness and bad manners.

What three things could you not live without?

Headphones, friends and comedy.
