London Design Festival 2017 : Our Highlights

London Design Festival is an annual festival which celebrates London as the design capital of the world, offering hundreds of events, exhibitions and installations across the city. Some of the team from Faber took the time to visit the festival yesterday, these are our highlights.

The Impact of Instagram

The first talk of the day, ‘The Impact on Instagram’ was part of 100% Design, located in The Forum area of the Olympia. It featured Blandaid Kenny of Whalar, 2LG Studio and Amos Goldreich of Amos Goldreich Architecture. The talk itself was extremely insightful, highlighting the importance of Instagram as a marketing platform and offering useful tips and tricks to allow for an organic, quality Instagram account. 2LG in particular made a lasting impression and upon searching their social media feeds, it is clear their creative content is carefully considered and presented in an elegant way.

WGSN Interior Trend Report

Another must-see talk at 100% design was the Interior Trend Report for spring/summer 2019 by trend forecasting company WGSN, presented by their Senior Editor Gemma Riberti. Her extensive knowledge was evident throughout the talk as she presented the different themes predicted for Spring/Summer 2019, exploring use of colours, materials, graphics and many more design elements. The information and knowledge gained from this will definitely be beneficial when exploring ideas and concepts for future projects.

Villa Walala

Located in Shoreditch, Villa Walala is a blow up installation by artist Camille Walala located in Shoreditch. The playful burst of colour and pattern allowed for beautiful photographs and added a fun, nostalgic feel to Exchange Square. Camille’s other work is featured in quite a lot of spaces around London, with her vibrant style brightening up even the dullest areas.

Overall the London Design Festival definitely did not disappoint and is a perfect opportunity to further any knowledge of how the design industry is growing and developing. The diverse range of designer’s work presented in such beautiful venues made London burst with creativity and is something worth visiting before it finishes on 24th September.
